I Really Miss 2010s Veggie Burgers

I'm not actually vegetarian or vegan, but people often assume I am because I don't eat much meat. When I'm in the mood for meat, I just eat meat. When I'm not in the mood for meat, I don't want something pretending to be meat! It's so ironic how people were so annoyed at "meat subsitutes pretending to be meat" and that's the majority of the market now. It didn't used to be! I miss my mushy veggie burgers!

Qrunch Burgers

I was absolutely obsessed with these. I would toast a couple and top them with marinara for a super easy veggie parmesan. They were the toaster waffles of veggie burgers. They straight up do not exist anymore and current brands of quinoa burgers are not going for the same taste/texture. I miss them so much and I'm going to try to recreate them. I'll update here when I figure anything out.

I found this ingredient list online:

Organic Millet, Organic Quinoa, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Onion, Organic Carrots, Organic Broccoli, Organic Spinach, Arrowroot Starch, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Psyllium Seed Powder, Sea Salt, Organic Garlic, Non-GMO Canola Oil.

My plan is to pre-cook the grains & veggies, blitz the veggies (and maybe the millet), make patties, and pan fry.

Garden Burgers

Do you remember the standard veggie burger option basically anywhere that didn't make their own? From before impossible & beyond burgers became the standard veggie option? I'm trying garden burgers available to me to find anything that fills that gap for me.

I'm not interested in "meat-like" texture. I want a veggie patty texture! like mushy black bean burgers with a crispy outside! The issue I've been running into is that so many of the options in that vein are spicy. I love spicy food, but I want to be able to top my veggie burgers however I want and not be constrained by a really specific flavor profile. If a patty tastes weird with just mustard, mayo, and pickles, it's lost its usefulness as a meal I don't have to plan at all.
